18 February 2013 - With round one of the WSBK just a few days away, Honda Australia is looking forward to supporting the Team Honda Racing riders as they compete alongside WSBK Pata Honda Team at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on February 22-24, 2013.
After revealing the new team livery at their launch last week, Team Honda Racing riders Jamie Stauffer and Josh Hook are looking forward to competing on the world stage as wildcard entries in the World Superbike and World Supersport categories respectively. Months of preparation have gone into the CBR1000RR and CBR600R to get them ready for this unique opportunity.
Already an experienced rider, Jamie Stauffer is very much looking forward to the event; "To have the chance to race against the world's best Superbike riders starts my 2013 season off with a terrific challenge."
Up and coming rider Josh Hook is thrilled to be competing on the world stage; "To start my year off at the World Superbikes competing as a wildcard alongside the world's best Supersport riders is fantastic. The guys at Team Honda Racing are working hard to give me a competitive motorcycle to compete head to head."
Jonathan Rea is once again riding for the Honda WSBK team Pata Honda along with fellow British rider, Leon Haslam. The team have completed several test sessions on board their CBR1000RR Superbikes in preparation for the first round of the season at the Phillip Island Circuit.
The WSBK event, which is sure to draw impressive audience numbers, will also showcase a number of Honda Motorcycles on the Honda stand in the AMCN Superbike Expo. The yet to be released CBR500R and CB500F LAMS approved motorcycles will be a highlight of the Honda display. Due for Australian arrival in April, these two models which will be joined one month later by the CB500X will offer a new generation of riders excellent handling, advanced environmental performance, innovative designs and complete convenience.
While inspiration will be high for the CBR1000RR Superbike machines, visitors will be able to take a close look at Honda's 20th anniversary standard CBR1000RR which offers riders unbeatable performance on both track and road. Joining this will be Honda's iconic Goldwing, the VFR1200X and NC700SA which were released in 2012, and the brand new striking Moriwaki CBR250R and more.
