Suzuki has added two new models to its best-selling sports touring range, welcoming a new naked, big-bore Bandit 1250 to Australia.

The new Bandit 1250 and ABS-equipped Bandit 1250A return to the roots of the Suzuki Bandit, originally a naked motorcycle when introduced in 1996, and continue the legacy of the GSX1400.

Both the naked and faired Bandits are set to continue Suzuki's strong sales performances in the naked and sports touring categories.

Like the popular faired Bandit 1250S, the naked Bandit 1250 combines a powerful, big-bore engine with Suzuki's latest technology, in a classically striking package which is equally at home in suburbia or on the highway.

"With its bold look, the new, naked Suzuki Bandit 1250 gives riders even more choice and is set to be a tremendous addition to Suzuki's model line-up," Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.

"Like the popular Bandit 1250S, it delivers great performance, style and plenty of value."

Exposed to form part of its distinctive naked bike appearance, the Bandit 1250 is powered by a compact 1,255cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine, delivering impressive and smooth acceleration across a broad powerband, and effortless touring on the open road.

Suzuki's Dual Valve Throttle (SDTV) fuel injection system provides better throttle response, smoother power output, improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.

Piston rings have a friction-reducing chrome-nitride coating, while Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) cylinder-bore coating enhances the big-bore engine's performance and durability.

Helping provide smooth running, the Suzuki's centre-cam-drive engine features staggered transmission shafts to provide more compact and centralised weight distribution, tighter spacing between pairs of cylinders and a secondary balancer shaft.

Suzuki Idle Speed Control (ISC) system offers improved cold starting, while a liquid-cooled oil cooler helps minimise engine temperatures in the Bandit 1250.

A high-volume muffler combines with an advanced engine management system, Suzuki's Pulsed Air Injection (PAIR) system and an oxygen sensor to minimise the Bandit 1250's emissions.

Providing the perfect balance for city and highway riding, gear ratios in the six-speed transmission have been carefully selected to deliver sharp acceleration and smooth cruising.

The slick-shifting transmission combines with a hydraulic clutch, which has coil springs to give riders improved lever feel and control.

With large diameter down tubes to optimise torsional rigidity, the classic tube-frame and rake and trail of the Bandit 1250 have been developed to create an unmatched balance of sharp handling and comfortable cruising.

Further improving rider comfort on long trips, the wide and comfortable seat has 20mm of height adjustability through an innovative, spacer seat mounting system, while the centre stand is easy to use.

Front forks with 43mm-stanchion tubes and a single rear shock absorber are spring-preload-adjustable, producing enjoyable handling and a smooth ride.

Floating, 310mm, dual front disc brakes have four piston calipers and combine with a 240mm rear disc and single piston caliper to give riders plenty of stopping power.

The ABS-equipped Bandit 1250A uses additional technology to monitor brake lever input and wheel speed, to match brake application with the available traction.

Putting the potent power of the Bandit 1250 to the road, radial tyres are fitted to three-spoke, cast-aluminium wheels.

A large, 19-litre fuel tank gives the new Suzuki a long touring range.

Complementing its bold, naked chassis, the Bandit 1250 has a round headlight and bullet-shaped instrument bodies, in addition to an analogue tachometer, LCD digital speedometer, LCD fuel gauge and clock and LED indicator lamps.

In a Cherry Red colour scheme, the new, naked Suzuki Bandit 1250 is now available in Australia for $11,490\*, with the ABS-equipped Bandit 1250A to follow in the coming weeks for $11,990\*.

With bold, new Candy Blue liveries, 2009 models of Suzuki's popular faired Bandit 1250S and ABS-equipped Bandit 1250SA will be available in Australia in the coming weeks, at an RRP of $11,990\* and $12,490\*.

The entire Suzuki Bandit range is backed by a two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
