Honda satellite rider Jackson Richardson proved competitive in his first 450cc race in Australia, during the Adelaide Split Rhythm over the weekend.

The 2016 and 2017 Australian 250cc Supercross Champion stepped up from the 250 to compete in the 450 category, coming away with three second place finishes, two thirds, a fourth, fifth and sixth.

The Split Rhythm was an open class event and the Penrite Pirelli CRF Honda Racing Team thought it presented an ideal opportunity for Richardson to challenge himself in a new class, going up against some of the best talent Australian off road racing has to offer.

Richardson enjoyed the experience and was impressed by the factory CRF450Rs power; "The thing was fast, I can't thank Yarrive and the team enough for preparing me a 450 to race.  I couldn't contain my smile.  I had so much fun over the three days of racing. The event, the crew, the fans were all amazing," said Richardson.

Team owner Mark Luksich was pleased with the decision to allow Richardson to step up for the event and remains impressed with his development as a young rider after coming away with very positive results and injury free.

"You always worry a little bit, especially when they change bikes.  I knew he was more than capable but I was nervous.  The event was a great success and the fans really enjoyed the spectacle. Jackson really proved himself and I hope we can do these types of events in the future at more Supercars races." Luksich said.

Richardson will head to the USA for more pre-season prep and upon his return to Australia; the Penrite Pirelli CRF Honda Racing Team's full attention is set on the up and coming MX Nationals, which kick off in April in Victoria.
