Glenn Allerton, riding the Dynotech Maxima BMW HP4, has
completed a successful weekend in Round 3 of the QBE Australian
Superbike Championship held at Queensland Raceway. He finished in
2nd place on the weekend and leads the Championship.
The BMW rider was the quickest man in practice, took out
Superpole and followed it up with a victory in Race 1. On the Race
2 warm-up lap Allerton had a small technical problem and had to
start at the rear of the grid on the spare BMW HP4.
Allerton blasted his way through the field and at the end of the
first lap was in 4th position. The rapid lap took a toll on the
front brake and with an eye for the safety of fellow riders
remained in that position.
"That is the one that got away," Allerton said. "I had a problem
with the ECU on the warm-up lap, which couldn't be fixed in the
five-minute window that you have so I had to go to the spare bike.
I had such a big go at the start, I ended up over doing it on the
front brake so in the end I had to give the boys some room as I
didn't want to run into the back of them. We have the best package
going at the moment and I am going to go into Round 4 at Sydney
Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) like a bull at a gate as it is my
home event" said Allerton.
BMW Motorrad Australia and New Zealand, general manager, Tony
Sesto, was pleased with Allerton's weekend.
"Glenn had a fantastic weekend with the BMW HP4 showing its amazing
capabilities. The technical problem stopped Glenn from achieving
maximum points but to win Race 1 and lead the Championship is a
great effort" said Tony.
