The Society of Automotive Engineers – Australasia (SAE-A), the Asia Pacific professional body for automotive and mobility engineering, has announced its new Board for 2021-22.

CEO and President Adrian Feeney said the new Board members reflected the diversity of SAE-A's membership in a fast-changing industry landscape.

"Our Board represents academia, heavy vehicles, defence and mainstream automotive sectors, and I am pleased to welcome several of our profession's emerging leaders," he said

Heavy vehicle examiner Michael Waghorne continues as Treasurer, with media consultant Greg Shoemark elected as Senior Vice President, and PACCAR chief engineer Noelle Parlier as Vice President.

Prof Bernard Rolfe from Deakin University has joined via his role on the SAE Special Vehicles Steering Group, and represents SAE-A at FISITA, the world body for automotive engineers, where he is the current Chair of the Academic Advisory Board.

Prof Mohammad Fard from RMIT University has joined as Technical Chair of the APAC21, the 21st biennial Asia Pacific Automotive Engineering Conference, to be staged in Melbourne 3-5 October 2022 to explore the latest developments in autonomous vehicle technology.

Completing the Board are David Young, who takes on the autonomous vehicle and alternative fuels portfolio, and Luke Callaway and Sam Lagozzino, who share the training, events and membership portfolios.

David Young is Manager Vehicle Safety, Innovation and Technology, at Victoria's Transport Accident Commission, where he specialises in the road safety outcomes of new vehicle technologies.

Luke Callaway is Executive Manager – Engineering at Hendrickson Asia Pacific, responsible for all engineering activities including product strategy, product development, vehicle integration, product validation and homologation in the Asia Pacific area.
