Lightweight two strokes don’t come any more advanced than
the latest YZs from Yamaha.
Powered by compact, free-revving engines running in advanced
aluminium frames, these ultra-competitive lightweights kick out
race winning engine and handling performance every time. So
it’s no wonder they have been at the top of the Australian
sales charts for some time.
The new 2007 models feature changes throughout the design aimed
at achieving even lighter handling, raising the already high
quality and reducing weight.
Both machines come with the legendary ‘controlled
flex’ aluminium chassis that is now fitted with upside-down
48mm front forks featuring optimised rigidity balance in the outer
tubes. Together with revised settings, the forks give both
outstanding comfort and shock absorption qualities that contribute
to even lighter handling characteristics.
Meanwhile at the rear, the titanium spring shock absorber now
sports further weight reductions in its adjustment mechanism.
Further weight savings have been achieved with the adoption of
bolts with new head designs throughout the chassis.
To keep the pilot in full control, the new handlebars are Pro
Taper type aluminium units favoured by the top professional MX
riders.
Light, nimble and powerful, the new range of YZ two-strokes are
ideal for riders who are passionate about motocross racing. Just as
passionate as Yamaha is about maintaining development of these
legendary two-strokes.
In order to cement YMA’s place at the top of the sales
charts, the new RRPs of the 2007 models are significantly lower
than in 2006. YZ125 now costs $8299 ($1100 less than 2006 model)
and the YZ250 retails for $9299 ($600 less).
