Monday January 17, 2022 – Western Australia Police (WAPOL) has ordered 55 ŠKODA Superb Wagons to patrol the state's highways, the first large scale sale by the European brand to an Australian law enforcement agency.
The multi-award winning Czech-produced ŠKODA Superb Wagon is powered by a 206kW/350Nm turbo petrol four cylinder engine that drives all four wheel via a six speed dual clutch automatic transmission. It is capable of reaching 100km/h from a standing start in some 5.8 seconds.
The 55 ŠKODA Superb Wagons on order will be allocated to WAPOL's Highway Patrol units with a further 10 orders expected.
The Highway Patrol ŠKODA Superb Wagon is a largely unmodified Sportline grade that differs from the civilian model only in the removal of the standard Canton sub-woofer to accommodate a police-specification dual battery.
ŠKODA's Superb Sportline is a large passenger car sold in either wagon or liftback form. Its combination of cruising comfort and dynamic capability, in addition to exceptional interior capacity for both passengers and storage, have won the Superb numerous car of the year awards since its introduction in current form during 2015.
ŠKODA Australia Director Michael Irmer thanked WAPOL for choosing the Superb Wagon.
"ŠKODA could hope for no more resounding endorsement of our Superb than its selection by WAPOL," he said. "To be the car of choice for the officers who serve the great state of Western Australia is an honour."
