- New Octavia brings fresh looks, upgraded equipment and more value to the range
- Simplified model range: Octavia, Octavia Sport and Octavia RS
- Octavia RS petrol variant gets a power boost to 169kW
Sydney 13th April 2017 – ŠKODA Australia is pleased to introduce its new Octavia range, bringing with it fresh new looks, a raft of the latest technologies and a simplified model line-up for reduced complexity, which in turn reduces delivery lead times for customers' desired vehicle.
Since ŠKODA's return to Australia in 2007, the Octavia has been the brand's most popular model and the flagbearer for ŠKODA's unique, 'Simply Clever' approach to motoring. Available in a versatile 'liftback'-style sedan and a capacious wagon format, the Octavia has delighted customers with its space, practicality and quality the world over.
Now, ŠKODA Australia is launching its new range of Octavia models in a more simplified model range: Octavia and Octavia Sport with a 110kW turbocharged petrol engine, and the brand's performance hero, the Octavia RS, with an upgraded 169kW turbocharged petrol engine, previously featured in the limited edition RS230, as well as a 135kW diesel engine.
The Octavia Scout model is not part of the new Octavia line-up at the time of launch.
The new Octavia range carries over an armada of standard equipment from the recently upgraded Octavia, including Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, fatigue detection, Multi Collision Brake, adaptive cruise control, alloy wheels, floor mats and a the ever-popular 'Simply Clever' package, featuring a double-sided mat in the luggage compartment, a mobile phone holder and a waste bin in the driver's door.
Starting with the Octavia model, as with the outgoing model, the range begins with an extremely high level of standard equipment and technological innovations.
The Octavia
The updated Octavia moves the entry model specification upwards by building on the existing fit-out of the previously named Style model grade, and expands the strong value equation with a laundry list of standard features, including seven airbags, a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, rear centre armrest, fatigue detection, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, height adjustable front seats with lumbar support, remote folding of the rear seats via the luggage compartment, dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning, an upgraded rear view camera system featuring multiple views (as debuted in the current generation Superb), LED rear tail lights, voice control and an umbrella under the passenger front seat.
Visually, the new Octavia features an updated front-end design with a new dual headlight design, giving the Octavia a fresh, modern look, while new 'Trius' alloy wheel design gives the Octavia a new stylish stance on the road. The Octavia is available in both sedan and wagon body styles.
Octavia Sport
Due to the enormous popularity of the Sport Pack in the previous Octavia range, Sport' returns to the Octavia as a new model grade above the standard Octavia. As the name suggests, the Octavia Sport model grade offers customers additional styling and equipment over the standard Octavia specification.
Additional standard inclusions for the Octavia Sport model grade are: full LED headlamps, sports seats, the innovative Passenger Protect Assist system, which combines with factory-specified two additional airbags (bringing the total to nine in the Octavia Sport) and the Light Assist system with rain sensor.
Stylistically, the Octavia Sport carries a number of visual features that builds on the standard Octavia variant, including 18-inch 'Turini' dark alloy wheels with lowered sports suspension for an aggressive on-road stance, a black rear spoiler (sedan) and mirror caps and black side door and tailgate foils. Like the Octavia model grade, the Octavia Sport model is available in both sedan and wagon body styles.
Octavia RS
ŠKODA's most popular model and a cult favourite around the world, the new Octavia RS arrives in Australia with a modest power boost of 7kW, taking the turbocharged petrol engine's output to 169kW. The diesel RS variant remains at 135kW and a whopping 380Nm of torque.
While RS fans would argue that the sporty Octavia was great as it was; ŠKODA Australia is pleased to offer a number of updates to the model, which compliments the new Octavia family's front-end design and adds to the RS's on-road presence; which features a wider rear track.
The new Octavia RS brings with it all the standard specifications of the Octavia and Octavia Sport model grades, and adds a 'Black Pack' which includes 18-inch 'Gemini' alloy wheels in black, and black body parts to further enhance the RS's understated, but no-less purposeful stance on the road.
Inside, the RS offers the biggest and best infotainment system in the ŠKODA range: an all-new 9.2-inch touch screen Columbus satellite navigation system including Smartlink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, USB, AUX and two SD card slots, as well as an eight-speaker sound system.
For those customers who wish to further specify their Octavia (which, as history has shown, is the vast majority of ŠKODA customers), ŠKODA Australia is pleased to offer two optional packages representing excellent value:
