Defender 90 will be for sale in Australia for the first time late in 2002 and is revealed at Sydney Motor Show this week at the Land Rover stand.
Land Rover Defenders have long been regarded at the quintessential hard working 4WD vehicle the world over. The vehicle of choice for military, peace keeping forces,
farmers and generally any requirement where strength and power are required.
The shorter wheelbase of the Defender 90 allows it to tackle the toughest of terrain with ease. Already a cult vehicle in Europe, the Defender 90 is equally at ease in the urban environment as it
is in the outback.
Defender 90 comes standard with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Traction Control (ETC) providing advanced levels of safety and traction on and off the road. The two-speed transfer
box includes a locking center differential, which can be engaged for ultimate traction, enabling easy negotiation of the most daunting terrain. In addition, the 90 will also come with air
conditioning, allow wheels and nudge bar as standard equipment.
Australian specification Defender 90 will be available in a two-seat hard top wagon with 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbo diesel engine capable of 90kW at 4200rpm and 300Nm at 1950rpm.
A rigid chassis, long travel coil suspension and powerful, all disc brakes provide the best payload and towing ability in its class. The tough steel chassis is mated to a body of aluminium alloy,
which is both light and resistant to rust. Indeed the Defender 90 is likely to out work and out last the toughest of drivers.
The Defender Xtreme Wagon is offered in five colours: Amazon Green, Dysart Black, Lightning Silver, Tempest Yellow and Simpson Red.
