The new Discovery will be powered by a Jaguar-sourced 4.4L 224kW V8 petrol engine, and a 2.7L 142kW TdV6 diesel engine which develops 440Nm of torque +óGé¼GÇ£ both of which have been specifically tailored to meet Land Rover requirements particularly for off-road usage. Other features include a six-speed 'intelligent shifting' automatic gearbox, full-time 4x4, fully independent electronic air suspension and up to seven adult-sized seats.

Smart user-friendly technology includes Land Rover's new and patented Terrain Response : the driver selects one of five terrain settings via a rotary switch, and the vehicle's many electronic controls and traction systems are then optimised to suit the needs of that particular selected surface. Other new technology includes DVD navigation and adaptive headlights.

Deliveries of the Land Rover Discovery 3 will commence into the Australian market in Q4 2004 .
