Suzuki is making good its promise to revitalise
Australia’s ATV scene with the introduction of its newest and
most innovative ATV model, the LT-A500F Vinson.
Named Vinson after the highest mountain on the Antartic
continent, this new ATV has just been released in Australia, and
with its bold styling, it already has farmers talking.
“With the introduction of the Eiger ATV series and now the
Vinson, Suzuki has definitely made its intentions clear: we plan on
reestablishing our position as a major force in the ATV
sector,” Suzuki’s General Manager for Motorcycles,
Perry Morison, says.
“The LT-A500F Vinson is the largest, most capable and
innovative ATV Suzuki has ever produced. It offers a long list of
features and boasts Suzuki’s excellent reputation for
strength and quality.”
The Vinson enjoys abundant low-rpm torque and increased overall
performance compared to previous models. At the heart of the Vinson
is an advance design liquid-cooled 493cc, 4-stroke, 4-valve, SOHC
engine with high compression ratio and a large 36mm
carburettor.
This latest Suzuki ATV makes use of a QuadMatic, fully automatic
CVT (continuously variable) transmission with centrifugal clutch,
two-speed sub-transmission and reverse for complete versatility in
all conditions.
As with the Eiger’s automatic transmission, engine braking
on the Vinson occurs automatically when riding downhill, keeping
the rider in control. Also aiding traction on the Vinson is a
torque-sensing limited slip front differential that distributes
power evenly to the front wheels when four wheel drive is
engaged
A “Start in Gear” system is another innovative
feature of the Vinson’s high-tech transmission. This allows
easy starting in any gear and is particularly useful because
neutral does not have to be found when restarting.
Selectable four wheel drive is a concept pioneered and
introduced into the ATV market by Suzuki several years ago.
Selecting between two-wheel drive and four- wheel drive on the
Vinson LT-A500F is easily achieved by pressing a conveniently
located handlebar-mounted button.
With the inclusion of dual front disc brakes and a large 216mm
rear disc brake, the big Vinson is extremely well equipped in the
braking department.
To handle the rough terrain the ATV will encounter during its
long working life, the Vinson offers class-leading wheel travel,
180 mm on the front and 200 mm at the rear.
The Vinson is designed to allow the rider to tailor the machine
to suit the terrain. With 5-way adjustable, double wishbone front
suspension and 5-way adjustable, swingarm (twin shocks) rear
suspension, the rider is in total control.
To provide greater comfort in varied riding conditions, the
Vinson’s seat is
“T-shaped” allowing the rider to adopt different
seating positions on the ATV.
In addition to the key areas already mentioned, the LT-A500F
Vinson is well appointed with numerous extra features that its
competitors can’t match.
Storage space on the Vinson is extremely generous. It makes use
of a water resistant, fender-mounted 3.0 litre storage compartment
that offers easy access for the rider, a second water resistant 4.5
litre storage box is located underneath the taillight.
Additional carrying capacity on this Suzuki ATV comes in the
form of sturdy front and rear racks, ideal for hauling sacks of
feed, hay bales or just some extra room for the dog. If further
space is required the rider can make use of the Vinson’s
trailer hitch.
When darkness falls but there’s still work to be done, the
Vinson’s widely-spaced, high / low beam headlights come into
their own, while an independent handlebar mounted auxiliary light
is directed to where the bars are pointed.
As with the Eiger, the Vinson also has a waterproof 12V DC power
outlet to operate a phone, radio or other electronic devices, as
well as a rear taillight that incorporates the brake light.
Adding to the Vinson’s strong list of features is
handlebar-mounted full digital instrumentation with speedometer,
twin tripmeter, hourmeter, clock, gear position indicator and drive
mode indicator. Separate instrumentation lights are provided for
neutral, reverse, high-beam, parking brake and water temperature
warning.
All these features add up to a class-leading ATV package that is
not only suited to farm duties, but also recreational activities.
With a torquey, large-capacity powerplant, advanced long-travel
suspension and a user-friendly design with the latest technology,
the Vinson is ideal for both work and play.
Suzuki’s LT-A500F Vinson ATV is now available in Champion
Yellow at a suggested retail price of $11,990 including GST.
