The hotly-anticipated, all-new 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 thoroughbred
sportsbike has landed in Australia, ready to build on the famed
GSX-R legend.
After scoring rave reviews when unveiled at motorcycle shows in
Brisbane and Adelaide earlier this year, the all-new GSX-R750
continues a legacy dating back to the model’s ground-breaking
launch in 1985.
The 2008 GSX-R750 is powered by Suzuki’s most-powerful
750cc four-stroke production engine, and features a new
cast-aluminium frame, exciting new styling, and further
developments to deliver open-class performance in a compact
middleweight-sized package.
“The Suzuki GSX-R750 was the original race replica
motorcycle and we’re proud to introduce the all-new 2008
model to Australia,” Perry Morison, General Manager,
Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.
“With a range of significant developments, the latest
generation GSX-R750 is ready to set a new benchmark for street
legal supersport motorcycles.
“As the only 750cc superbike in the market, the GSX-R750
is uniquely positioned to provide the perfect balance between
street and track use, and forms a key part of Suzuki’s
comprehensive range of sportsbikes, designed to meet the needs of
every sportsbike rider.”
With a 15,000 rpm redline, the four-cylinder, DOHC,
liquid-cooled powerplant is Suzuki’s most efficient and
cleanest running production 750cc engine ever, with a new Suzuki
Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel injection system further enhancing
performance.
Riders can now better manage the impressive power by
instantaneously selecting one of three engine maps to suit the
conditions or their riding preferences through Suzuki’s
advanced Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS).
Matching the Suzuki’s potent mechanical setup, its
lightweight cast-alloy frame is central to an evolutionary new look
while delivering superb cornering on the road or racetrack, optimum
rigidity and unmatched accuracy.
New Showa inverted cartridge front forks are fully adjustable
with high and low speed compression, spring preload and rebound
damping, with 120mm of wheel travel.
A 41mm aluminium Showa rear shock absorber with a 14mm rod
diameter is fully adjustable with high and low speed compression,
spring preload and rebound damping for optimised rider control.
Radial-mount four piston brake calipers, thinner, dual-floating
310mm front discs and a revised front brake master cylinder are
part of the impressive brake package on the GSX-R750, which also
includes a single 220mm rear disc.
New front 120/70ZR17M/C and rear 180/55ZR17M/C radial tyres have
been designed and manufactured specifically for the GSX-R750 by
Bridgestone, and are fitted to lighter, more rigid and stronger
cast aluminium-alloy wheels.
The GSX-R750 features improved aerodynamics, maintaining rider
wind protection while reducing overall drag, resulting from
extensive wind tunnel development.
Signalling its intentions with an aggressive and race-like
profile, the Suzuki also sports a bold new headlight and
re-designed side and rear bodywork.
Suzuki’s sensational 2008 GSX-R750 is now available in
Pearl Blue / White, Black / Matt Black or Candy Max Orange / Black
liveries for an RRP of $16,490 (inc GST) plus government and dealer
charges, backed by a two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
