Suzuki has launched its first true sports ATV, the QuadSport
Z400.
The new sporty all-terrain four-wheeler combines exciting
performance, looks and ability, with an amazing level of
user-friendliness.
“Sports ATVs are enormously popular in America and we
believe the market for them is set to explode in Australia,”
Perry Morison, Suzuki Australia’s General Manager for
Motorcycles, said.
“Suzuki has developed the new QuadSport Z400 specifically
for the sports and recreation market, and there’s no doubt it
sets a new benchmark for the category.”
“Its great looks and performance further underline
Suzuki’s push into the ATV market, which has already seen the
recent Australian launch of the Vinson 500, Eiger 400 and Ozark 250
models.”
Uniquely styled, the QuadSport features a sharp, pointed nose,
twin air intakes and high-mounted, deeply flared fenders, with
colour and graphics inspired by the Suzuki RM series
motocrossers.
In a first for ATVs, dual vertically stacked multi-reflector
halogen headlights are featured, adding to its aggressive
appearance and enhancing visibility.
Based on the powerplant of the versatile Suzuki DR-Z400
motorcycle, the QuadSport’s engine is a powerful 398cc,
four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled four-valve engine with
a DOHC valvetrain.
Riders can access this tractable, responsive power and flat
torque curve through a five-speed manual transmission using a
multi-plate type clutch. Reverse gear can be engaged with a handy
selector knob.
User-friendliness is also apparent in the convenient parking
feature that allows the rear brake to be set using a control on the
left handlebar.
Rider comfort is another feature of this sporty Suzuki ATV - a
counterbalancer shaft suppresses engine vibrations, while
independent double-wishbone front suspension with preload
adjustable coil-over shocks give a long 210mm of wheel travel.
Meanwhile the aluminium-alloy swingarm rear suspension features
a single, fully adjustable piggyback-reservoir shocker which also
allows for exceptional wheel travel of 231mm.
The durable, light, high tensile steel frame combines high
rigidity and sufficient flex to provide the versatile Suzuki ATV
with optimum handling performance. This is aided by the
QuadSport’s low centre of gravity.
The race-proven Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM)
coats the aluminium-alloy cylinder, minimizing its weight, and
allowing for superior heat transfer. The forged aluminium-alloy
piston is strong, yet also lightweight.
The QuadSport Z400 uses powerful dual hydraulic front disc
brakes with a single hydraulic disc brake at the rear to pull up
its ultra-low 169kg dry weight.
The Suzuki LT-Z400K3 QuadSport is now available in Champion
Yellow No.2 and comes with a standard 6-month warranty. It has a
suggested retail price of $11,390 including GST.
