The latest version of Suzuki's Australian Championship-winning
motocrosser, the 2014 RM-Z450, is now available.
In the flush of RM-Z450's dominant performance in the 2013
Australian MX Nationals Championship, claiming no less than 6
overall victories, 10 moto wins and 5 superpoles the latest
iteration of Suzuki's cutting-edge four stroke continues the legacy
of its ground-breaking predecessors.
Since its introduction in 2005, the Suzuki RM-Z450 has proven
itself as a championship winner time and time again from the
world-stage to local club races.
The latest version benefits from all the work that has gone into
previous generations ensuring prodigious cornering ability in the
toughest competitions.
The choice of champions like 2013 Australian MX Nationals
Pro-Open champion Matt Moss, 2013 AMA Motocross holeshot champion
James Stewart and two time AMA Supercross main event winner Davi
Millsaps, the all-new RM-Z450 combines slingshot launch performance
and superb handling.
New Features
1. ECM ignition program has been changed for improved starting
performance.
2. Stylish two-tone radiator shrouds with new aggressive graphics
and yellow side number plates accentuate the RM-Z450's agile
looks.
Key Features
The 449cm³ 4-stroke liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve
fuel-injected engine developed to deliver phenomenal
idle-to-redline thrust.
Through feedback from factory racing, the piston, piston pin and
connecting-rod are developed with use of Finite Element Method
(FEM) analysis.
The piston pin boasts Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) surface
treatment, for less friction and increased durability. The
lightweight, battery free, motocross-use electronic fuel injection
system with progressive throttle linkage ensures efficient power
delivery via a 12-hole fuel injector delivering a precise fuel/air
mixture.
The aluminium cylinder with Suzuki Composite Electrochemical
Material (SCEM) coating is built for durability, light weight and
efficient heat transfer, while the slick five-speed transmission
enables precise gear shift operation.
The 2014 RM-Z450 comes with the latest version of Separate
Function Fork (SFF-type2) from Showa, separating the spring and
damping tasks. The right leg contains the spring, while the left
leg incorporates the cartridge assembly to manage damping. It
results in reduced friction, increased absorption performance and
weight saving.
Pre-load on the front fork spring is adjustable, allowing for
the rider to choose from a wider range of settings.
At the rear, the Showa piggyback-reservoir rear shock offers
high/low-speed compression damping adjustment, plus rebound damping
and spring preload adjustments. The rear shock, working through
Suzuki's superlative rising-rate linkage system, provides 310mm of
wheel travel, for maximum traction.
The geometry combines with a slim chassis design ensuring a
compact riding position, working in tandem with the gripper seat to
open up the cockpit to allow the rider to actively take control of
the machine.
Race-inspired waved disc rotors and Excel aluminium rims are
standard equipment as is the Renthal aluminium fatbar.
For quick adjustments to fuel settings to suit changing riding
conditions, two couplers are included. One is for rich and another
for lean compared to the stock setting. The customer can easily
adapt the fuel setting to best suit the riding conditions by
connecting either coupler.
The maintenance cap for fuel pump and a fuel hose plug are
provided for ease of maintenance and the muffler body uses
conventional bolts, instead of rivets to simplify replacing the
glass wool packing.
Customers can view the 2014 RM-Z450 in Australian dealerships
now, priced at just $11,790.
