Yarra Valley, March 13, 2015 – The multiple award-winning Audi A6 has been comprehensively refreshed, with contemporary design elements, intelligent technology innovations, new engines and an even higher level of standard equipment than Audi has ever offered in this segment.
"The A6 range is the epitome of a sophisticated luxury sedan, and now, more than ever, the new optimised range of A6 variants offer the ideal mode of transport for successful business people, thanks to numerous improvements which have been made," said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director, Audi Australia Pty Ltd.
"The A6 range is now more powerful, yet more efficient, and offers even greater value across its broad range of engines from the new 1.8 TFSI, to the mighty Audi S6 V8. For drivers who value innovation, performance, sophistication and exceptional quality, the new Audi A6 and S6 range delivers significant developments in all of these areas, as well as another key requirement: outstanding value," said Mr Doyle.
The new A6 features a wider, flatter singleframe grille that is consistent with the latest evolution of the Audi design language. The refreshed exterior styling is accentuated by sharper lines and tauter surfaces from front-to-rear, which combine to portray a more dynamic overall design.
Highlighting this at the front of the new A6 is Audi's distinctive and intelligent Matrix LED headlight technology, which offers an incredible level of forward vision at night-time, without blinding other motorists. Dynamic turning indicators at the front and rear are also available across the range – a real safety advancement in low-visibility conditions.
The new high-resolution Driver Information System (DIS) sits in between the speedometer and tachometer readouts, and can display crystal-clear map-based navigation right in the driver's natural field of vision. This intelligent ergonomic innovation from Audi is powered by the new-generation MIB2 infotainment system, which itself is driven by the latest Nvidia Tegra 30 quad-core processor.
A sporty seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission supersedes the previous multitronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) unit for the front-wheel drive model. The S tronic is an entirely new development for Audi, and is combined with a new 1.8 TFSI four-cylinder engine in the entry-level model for Australia.
Producing 140kW and 320Nm, the 1.8 TFSI is endowed with Audi's very latest engine technology, like dual injection and the Audi valvelift system (AVS). As a result, its combination of performance and efficiency is unmatched in this segment. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.9 secs from rest, and returns a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of only 5.7 litres per 100km.
In addition, two versions of the 3.0 TDI engine complete the A6 line-up – both delivering power via Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel drivetrain.
The single-turbo 3.0 TDI produces 160kW/500Nm and is equipped with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. With this combination, it powers from 0-100km/h in 6.6sec, with fuel efficiency of 5.1 L/100km.
Audi's high-performance TDI diesel technology is well-known from the brand's motorsport success, and is epitomised in production form in the extraordinary 3.0 TDI Biturbo V6 engine. With 235kW and 650Nm, and mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, it sprints to 100km/h faster than many pure sports cars – in 5.0 secs. Fuel efficiency is still responsible, at just 6.1 L/100km.
The high-performance Audi S6 Sedan sits at the top of the range, powered by the 4.0 TFSI V8. This engine gains 22kW over its predecessor, with outputs of 331kW and 550Nm, and now despatches the 100km/h mark in an incredible 4.4 secs.
The 4.0 TFSI is an innovative engine, not least because of its unusual 'hot side, inside' exhaust concept, where the twin-turbos sit inside the 90-degree vee. In addition, four of the eight cylinders can be deactivated under light throttle loads for the benefit of efficiency, and any unwanted harmonics this may cause are suppressed in the passenger cabin by an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system that broadcasts through the sound system's speakers.
The Audi A6 is a 5-star ANCAP rated vehicle, and is equipped with eight airbags for maximum occupant safety.
Soon after its Australian launch in 2011, the current generation Audi A6 picked up two Drive Car of the Year awards, for Best Luxury Car over $80,000 and the People's Choice award. It also won the Coveted 'Golden Steering Wheel' international award ahead of competitors in the mid-size luxury class.
The new Audi A6 comes equipped to a very high standard, with the following highlights featured as standard on the 1.8 TFSI entry-level model:
- Dynamic new 18-inch alloy wheel design
- S line exterior package
- Xenon plus headlights, with LED daytime running lights and high-beam assist

- Audi sound system with 10 speakers, 6ch amplifier and an output of 180w
- Parking system plus, with front and rear camera

The Technik package combines highly desirable options for maximum customer value. For $4,800, the package includes Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go, Audi pre-sense plus, Park assist, 360-degree camera and Audi Connect. Active lane assist and four-zone climate control can be included for the 1.8 TFSI model, taking the package price to $5,800
