Since 2017, the MG Motor brand has grown significantly in Australia from a sales volume and employment perspective. In 2020, MG Motor's sales volumes almost doubled to 15,213 units and it is now a top-10 automotive brand in Australia. (VFACTS Feb-Apr 2021).

MG has also expanded its dealer franchise network across every state and territory. MG is leading the charge on making EVs mainstream, bringing the most accessible electric and hybrid vehicles to Australian shores and breaking down the biggest barrier to electric vehicle adoption – price. Based on customer feedback, MG Motor has leveraged the local demand for access to innovative new energy models and made it easier for customers to ride the wave of change towards a new energy future. MG also supports vital Australian organisations like Australian Red Cross and South-Western Sydney Local Health District, to ensure the business supports the local communities in which it operates.

2016 MG Motor Australia is officially launched in Sydney
2017 MG is the first Chinese-manufactured vehicle to be awarded a five-star rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
2018 MG enters into a three-year sponsorship deal with the National Basketball League.
2019 MG opens its first company-owned flagship showroom, Sydney City MG in Alexandria.
2020 MG becomes the major sponsor of the Port Adelaide Football Club and Melbourne Stars cricket team; MG ZS EV is launched as the most affordable electric vehicle in Australia.
2021 MG Motor breaks into top-10 selling automotive brands in Australia for the first time (VFACTS Feb-Apr 2021)
